The conversation concerned the terrorist attack on the Crocus City Hall concert hall in the Moscow region and Russia’s war against Ukraine.
The Ministers of Defense of France, Sebastien Lecarnus, and Russia, Sergei Shoigu, held a telephone conversation on Wednesday, April 3. Le Monde reports this in relation to the French Ministry of Defense.
It is noted that the talks are the first talks since October 2022. It was initiated by the French side. The main topic of conversation was the terrorist attack on a concert hall near Moscow. Lekarniu condemned the terrorist attack and expressed solidarity with the victims and their families.
“He confirmed that France does not have any information that would allow the establishment of a connection between the terrorist attack and Ukraine. He called on Russia to stop any instrumentalization of this event,” the defense department said.
The head of the French Ministry of Defense also condemned Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine and assured that his country would continue to support Kyiv “as long as necessary.”
Let’s recall that the previous President Emmanuel Macron said that a branch of the Islamic State group, which claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack on the Crocus City Hall concert hall in the Moscow region, made several attempted attacks on France.
Macron also authorized French troops to be sent to Ukraine. In addition, he advised Putin not to throw threats of nuclear weapons.
