President Vladimir Zelensky on Tuesday, April 2, met with representatives of the Roman Catholic and Protestant churches living in Ukraine. He congratulated them on Easter and wished Ukraine victory in the war against the Russian invaders, the press service of OP reports.
Zelensky thanked the clergy for their support to the faithful during the war and prayers.
“It is very important that people have the opportunity to come, talk to you, and pray. I also want to thank the service of our military chaplains. from you,” said the president and added, that it is important to strengthen the service in the chaplaincy of representatives of different churches.
In this regard, the clergy suggested that Zelensky start a national prayer breakfast. The President supported this idea.
The head of state also noted that communication between churches in different countries is important. Zelensky emphasized that it is very important for Ukraine that church hierarchs can convey Ukrainian messages to churches in other countries.
To this, the head of the All-Ukrainian Union of Evangelical Christian Baptist Churches, member of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations Valery Antonyuk responded that the representatives of the churches should not only continue to advocate for Ukraine, but also raise this issue. on all possible levels.
