They are trying to find funds mainly in the countries of Northern and Central Europe, the Estonian Ministry of Defense said.
Several countries have already contributed to the Czech initiative to buy shells for Ukraine. However, this money is still not enough. ERR reports this in connection with the words of Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur.
“If we are talking about a million shells, then it is almost three billion euros. There are different calibers, the smaller ones are a little cheaper. It would be better if everything could be done. In currently, we can say that there is more money missing than shells,” – said the Estonian official.
They are trying to find the missing funds especially in the countries of Northern and Central Europe. France, which has said it is ready to make a larger contribution, should be discussed separately, he said.
According to him, it is difficult to predict when the shells may hit the front. Some may come in a few months, some only at the end of the year.
Estonian Prime Minister Kaia Kallas noted that she was somewhat concerned because there were reports from Ukraine that the bullets had not reached them.
“If we can still carry out these things and deliver them to Ukraine, and Ukraine can recover, it will have an impact,” he said.
We remind you that Estonia has provided a new weapons package for Ukraine.
Earlier it was reported that Ukraine and Estonia are preparing a security agreement.
