Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, Metinvest businesses have produced more than 20,000 special plates for body armor for the Ukrainian military. Another batch of protective equipment was received by Zaporozhye fighters, a batch is being prepared for the defenders in Avdiivka, the company’s press service reported on Monday, June 20.
“This week we handed over body armor and helmets to the military in the Dnipropetrovsk region. We also agreed on the supply of ammunition to the heads of military units based in Avdiivka – now they are developing their needs We will do everything that depends on us to protect our cities “, – said CEO of Metinvest Alexander Mironenko.
The military itself notices the quality of the body armor.
“On behalf of all the servicemen, I would like to thank Metinvest for supporting the combat readiness of the units of the National Guard of Ukraine. From the beginning of the full-scale military aggression, our unit received 1,050 helmets and 1,800 bulletproof vests from Zaporizhstal. All this equipment now provides protection for NSU fighters who are leading the defense of our Motherland “, – said Colonel of the National Guard Andrey Belyaev.
In total, Metinvest plans to give defenders approximately 110,000 body armor: 90,000 will be made from domestic plates, and another 20,000 will be purchased overseas. In addition to body armor, Ukrainian defenders received more than 3,500 helmets from Metinvest.
