The decisions will protect the main interests of Polish farmers and producers, and, on the other hand, Ukrainians, Donald Tusk promised.
Ukraine and Poland are closer to a solution to the grain issue, but it does not suit everyone. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said this following negotiations with his Ukrainian counterpart Denis Shmygal on Thursday, March 28.
“Neither Prime Minister Shmygal nor I will be 100% satisfied. But this is modern politics. We are looking for solutions that may not completely satisfy everyone, but that will protect the main interests of Polish farmers,” and producers, and on the other hand, Ukrainians,” he said.
Tusk noted that the parties are on the “direct path” to ensure that competition from Ukrainian carriers is not painful for Polish drivers.
“I am counting on the understanding of all interested parties, farmers, drivers of Poland, so that we can together appreciate Poland’s positive efforts in this matter, and so that we understand that our future is in the same interest of Poland and Ukraine So that no one in any way helps Russia or other enemies to divide us both in Ukraine and Poland,” he added.
In this regard, Shmygal said that Ukraine and Poland are making progress in unblocking the border and it is important to maintain positive dynamics.
“We certainly have progress in lifting the blockade, but the main thing is to solve all the critical issues that lead to all the blockades,” said the head of government.
According to him, the plan of Ukraine and Poland to unblock the border is being implemented, although “not as fast as we would like.”
“But we certainly have positive trends and positive dynamics. It is important to maintain this dynamic and continue,” Shmygal emphasized.
Earlier on Thursday it became known that Denis Shmygal arrived in Poland and met with Prime Minister Donald Tusk. They planned to discuss the issues of arms supplies to Ukraine, the border situation, the development of trade and infrastructure.
It was also learned today that Polish farmers have unblocked the Ugrinov-Dolgobychev checkpoint.
