The head of state said that Russian dictator Putin would be ready for dialogue if he loses everything he has gained since 2022.
Ukraine will not need to de-occupy all of its territories by military means. President Vladimir Zelensky said this in an interview with CBS, which was released on Thursday, March 28.
The journalist asked Zelensky if Ukraine would be able to liberate its territories, including Crimea, if the West provided all the necessary weapons.
“This can happen if we go ahead and have enough weapons, enough support from our partners, and if all economic trade between Russia and the rest of the world is blocked. This is not only military measures,” he said.
Zelensky explained that the success of Ukraine should be not only in military terms, but also, for example, in economic terms.
“Winning means helping Ukraine win economically, being strong on the battlefield and helping politically. We will not need to take away all our territories by military means alone,” he added.
Zelensky also believes that when Russian dictator Vladimir Putin loses his grip since 2022, he will be ready for dialogue.
“I am sure that if he loses what he has gained since 2022, he will lose the trust of both skeptical countries and within the state. As soon as this happens, he will be ready for dialogue,” concluded Zelensky.
In the same interview, Zelensky noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces were able to stabilize the situation at the front. But the Russian aggressors may be preparing a new offensive. The president warned that the Ukrainian military “is not ready to defend against another Russian offensive in the coming months.” He clarified that he was talking about the end of May or June.
Earlier, the media reported that Vladimir Putin wants to capture Kharkov and therefore seems to be preparing offensive actions against the city. To this end, further mobilization may be announced in Russia.
