Using Telegram you can influence people in temporarily occupied territories.
Telegram messenger is a national security issue, but it can be used to Ukraine’s advantage. This was said by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Kirill Budanov, the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security reports.
The head of GUR noted that with the help of Telegram it is possible to influence people located in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
“The most interesting thing is Telegram, everyone reads it. In many ways it has a destructive effect here inside, but also thanks to it you can deliver something to people in the occupied territories. It is something that more or less works,” – said Budanov.
At the same time, the chief military intelligence officer also noticed the dangers of the messenger.
“The telegram, from the point of view of national security, is certainly a problem. It must be understood. Besides, I am completely against the suppression of freedom of speech. But this is too much. That is, to us , any person can create a channel, start writing whatever they want on it what they want, and when they start doing something, they hide behind the fact that it is freedom of media. But it is not freedom of media, it’s called a bit differently, ” Budanov explained.
We remind you that a bill has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada, proposing to regulate the activities of Telegram. The explanatory note states that the platform may be associated with the Russian Federation.
