The State Department said how they warned the Russian Federation about a possible terrorist attack

The United States provided the Russian side with detailed information about the preparations for the terrorist attack in early March. US State Department Speaker Matthew Miller announced this in a briefing on Monday, March 25.

He noted that the United States received information about a potential terrorist attack in a populated area near Moscow based on intelligence and surveillance data of the ISIS group.

“We warned the Russian government in early March of a planned terrorist attack in Moscow potentially targeting large numbers of people, including concerts,” a US foreign policy official said.

According to him, the American side privately conveyed to the Russians a warning based on intelligence and surveillance data – as part of the responsibility to warn everyone – allies or adversaries – about the threat of attack by terrorist. At the same time, Miller did not specify which channels were used for this.

In addition, the representative of the State Department recalled that on March 7, the United States issued a warning to its citizens about the possible preparation of a terrorist attack in Moscow. And a few months ago, the US also warned the Iranian government about a potential terrorist attack from ISIS, which subsequently happened on Iranian soil.
