More than half of the total amount of state budget expenses goes to providing military and law enforcement officers, as well as their weapons and equipment.
In the first two months of 2024, expenditures of the general fund of the state budget in the security and defense sector amounted to UAH 235.1 billion. The Ministry of Finance reported this on Monday, March 25.
“Thus, in January-February 2024, expenditures of the general fund of the state budget in the security and defense sector amounted to 235.1 billion hryvnias, or 55.4% of the total amount of expenditures of the general fund of the state budget,” the report said.
It was noted that in February costs amounted to UAH 159.8 billion.
The funds were used for financial allowances for military personnel, private and commanding officers, police officers, purchase of military and special equipment, weapons, ammunition, defense products, personal protective equipment (helmet, body armor and other special equipment), fuel and lubricants, foodstuff, etc.
It was previously reported that expenditures from the state budget in February amounted to 274.6 billion hryvnias. This is 82.8% or 124.4 billion more than in January of this year (UAH 150.2 billion).
We remind you that Ukraine’s state budget deficit fell to UAH 14.9 billion in January after growing in December 2023 to a record UAH 285 billion. In general, for the year it reached more than UAH 1 trillion.
