Russia has delayed the delivery of two S-400 air defense systems to India amid growing threats of Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian territory. This is stated in a report from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), released yesterday.

Analysts, citing material from The Economic Times, noted that Russian officials have informed India that Russia will deliver by August 2026 two of the five S-400 systems it is due to deliver to the country by the end of of this year.

The Russians are said to be unable to supply air defense systems to India due to the “changing situation” and “needs” related to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“Russia is delaying the delivery of two S-400 air defense systems to India, probably due to restrictions on the production of these systems in the Russian Federation, the growing need for air defense systems to protect cities and strategic business from attacks by Ukrainian drones. , as well as due to notifications about the deterioration of relations between the Russian Federation and India,” the report said.

ISW added that it is likely that Russia has a limited number of air defense systems available for export, and may have decided to delay supplies to India in favor of more established allies following India’s recent decisions to refused to accept tankers from the Russian Federation due to concerns about the imposition of Western sanctions. .

We remind you that on the night of March 23 in the Samara region of the Russian Federation, an explosion occurred in a refinery near the city of Novokuibyshevsk, and then a fire started. According to preliminary data, the plant was attacked by a drone.

It was previously reported that since the beginning of the year, 13 Russian refineries have been attacked. The drone attack led to the year’s biggest weekly increase in global oil prices.
