This plant will produce ammunition and repair equipment. The corresponding decision was agreed upon by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius and his French counterpart Sebastien Lecornu in Berlin on March 22. Lecornu reported this on the social network X.
Joint production in Ukraine: KNDS will create a subsidiary that is as close as possible to the needs of the Ukrainian army, he wrote.
According to the head of the French Ministry of Defense, the KNDS enterprise will produce ammunition, as well as spare parts for servicing armored vehicles and weapons systems of French and German production, which were transferred to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Over time, the subsidiary will also be able to produce full-fledged systems from scratch at its own facilities.
As BFMTV reported, this plant will be able to produce spare parts for the French Caesar self-propelled guns and AMX10RC armored vehicles, the German Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled guns and Leopoard 2 tanks.
Let us remind you that the German concern Rheinmetall will build a new plant for the production of artillery ammunition in Ukraine. The German-Ukrainian joint venture will produce a six-digit quantity of 155 mm artillery shells per year.
