China has signed a $275 million cooperation agreement with former ally Taiwan.

China and Honduras signed a cooperation agreement worth $275 million. It was reported by Reuters.

As the Chinese Ambassador to Honduras said, this is the first cooperation agreement between the two countries. This will help improve the infrastructure of educational institutions in this Central American state.

The countries are also negotiating a free trade agreement and other projects related to dams and power generation.

Honduras and Beijing established diplomatic relations last year after the Central American country severed long-standing ties with Taiwan.

Additionally, in early 2024, Taiwan lost Nauru, one of its few diplomatic allies. The Pacific island nation says there is “only one China” led by a government in Beijing and has resumed diplomatic relations with China.
