On Wednesday, March 20, the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, in a video message, commented on the Russian missile attack on a printing house in Kharkov, which killed five people and left five others missing.
“Today is another Russian blow to Kharkov, which is incapable of affecting anything, except that Ukraine will respond more principledly and precisely,” the president said.
The head of state noted that Kharkov and the region have been targets of invaders during shelling and strikes since the beginning of the Russian Federation’s large-scale military offensive against Ukraine.
“Our Kharkov. For more than two years, Kharkov and the region have been experiencing terrible Russian attacks. Saltovka was destroyed by missiles, other districts and streets of the city were destroyed. Villages and towns in the region were destroyed,” said the president.
He noted that five people were killed as a result of the Russian missile in Kharkov, and expressed condolences to all the families and friends of the victims, adding that each injured person receives the necessary assistance.
Zelensky noted the importance of a sufficient number of air defense systems to protect cities from Russia’s continued shelling.
“Kharkov needs an adequate air defense system. The Sumy region needs air defense. The Chernihiv region and all our other regions that suffer from the fear of Russia. The partners have this protection systems. And partners need to understand that air defense must protect life,” said the president.
In the afternoon, Russia attacked Kharkov, first with an X-59 missile. The shell hit a building housing several businesses, a huge fire started, five people are known to have died, and up to ten more people may be under the rubble.
