The adoption of the negotiation framework and the start of negotiations on the accession of Ukraine to the EU were discussed.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmyhal and the High Representative of the European Union Josep Borrell discussed the main priorities before the meeting of the Ukraine-EU Association Council. The head of government announced this on Telegram on Wednesday, March 20.
Thus, during the conversation, Shmygal and Borrell discussed additional military assistance, in particular, within the framework of the European Peace Fund (EPF) and the EU European Defense Industrial Strategy.
Also during the conversation, the issue of using Russia’s frozen assets for Ukraine’s needs was raised.
In addition, the politicians raised the topic of supporting the Peace Formula and preparations for the Global Peace Summit and the adoption of a negotiation framework and the start of negotiations on the accession of Ukraine to the EU.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine thanked for the additional 5 billion euros in military support for Ukraine and expressed hope for a fruitful meeting of the Association Council.
“We look forward to a fruitful meeting of the Association Council,” concluded the prime minister.
We would like to remind you that on March 19, the European Parliament and the European Council provisionally agreed to extend the import of Ukrainian products without duties and quotas until June 2025. The final ratification of the agreements is expected will take place in April.
