North Korea is selling weapons to Russia so that it can continue its brutal attacks on Ukraine, kill Ukrainians, and destroy Ukrainian infrastructure.
North Korea apparently wants ballistic missile technology from Russia in exchange for its weapons. This was announced on Tuesday, March 19, by Chong Pak, a US official dealing with North Korean issues at the State Department, Voice of America reports.
He stressed that North Korea does not provide military aid to Russia for free and has already sent at least 10 thousand containers with weapons to the north.
“There are at least 10,000 containers that went from the DPRK to Russia. There are almost certainly things that the DPRK wants instead,” Chung Pak said.
He also suggested that North Korea is likely interested in surface-to-air missiles and Russian armored vehicles.
“It is a very troubling development when a permanent member of the UN Security Council openly ignores the Security Council resolutions that it has signed with the rest of the international community and that they are involved in arms transfers,” said a State Department spokesman.
Ukraine’s security service documented the Russians’ use of missiles from North Korea during air strikes on Ukraine.
The media previously wrote that ships carrying missiles from North Korea to Russia have been docked for several weeks.
