Canada will try to give Ukraine a million drones, some of which will be manufactured in Ukraine.
Canada is considering the possibility of buying Ukrainian-made drones for its own defense needs. Canadian Defense Minister Bill Blair said this on Tuesday, March 19, at a press conference in Ottawa, as quoted by Ukrinform.
According to him, during a visit to Kyiv in February, he was able to discuss the experience of Ukraine in the use of drones on the battlefield, as well as successes in their production, with the Minister for Strategic Industries Alexander Kamyshin .
“We discussed opportunities for cooperation and even how coalition allies, including Canada, could invest in Ukrainian-made drones. I think it’s very feasible,” said Blair.
The Minister of Defense of Canada noted that the Ukrainians have two years of serious experience in fighting the war with Russia and that drones play an important role in this.
“I think we should all learn from the evolution of the use of drones in war and make decisions about future purchases based on this,” the minister said.
Let’s remember that in December, at a press conference, Vladimir Zelensky said that Ukraine will produce 1 million drones by 2024.
Later, the Cabinet of Ministers clarified that Zelensky meant only FPV drones. And if we consider other types of drones, their number is even greater.
