Priority topics at the anniversary meeting of the Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine are ammunition, air defense systems, F-16 fighters, and drones. This was said by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov.
According to him, during the 20th meeting in the format Ramstein The coalition of partner countries showed their solidarity and activity regarding aid to Ukraine.
“Ammunition is the critical need of our soldiers. They are there! This is the main topic of the meeting. The partners announced the aid packages, which include 155 mm, 152 mm, 105 mm artillery shells and others. Thank you we with our partners for the whole world are looking and looking for the ammunition necessary to repel the aggressor,” said Umerov.
The Defense Minister added that there will also be more missiles for air defense systems.
“Air defense to protect our cities, to protect our soldiers from Russian aviation, which drops KABs on our positions. There will be more missiles for our air defense systems. I thank the German Minister of Defense, who noted that the sky will pass. Ukraine belongs to the Ukrainians. Therefore, our common task is to ensure the advantage of Ukraine in the air, “said Umerov.
In addition, he said, work continues to provide Ukraine with F16s; the USA, Denmark, Belgium, the Netherlands, Romania and other countries are involved in this process so that the aircraft is in Ukraine as quickly as possible.
According to Umerov, several new countries have also joined the drone coalition and made their first contributions.
“The first results of this coalition are the first delivery of drones to Ukraine in March. We are also discussing the possibility of investing in the Ukrainian production of UAVs that have already shown their effectiveness on the battlefield,” said minister
He also said that he spoke with the head of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Charles Brown, and US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, to strengthen the Ukrainian air defense and long-range weapons.
“Today our team had a separate meeting with Secretary Austin and General Brown. We discussed Ukraine’s plan for 2024, the construction of fortifications, the strengthening of Ukrainian air defense, and the provision of war equipment in electronics. Long-range weapons have become a separate item,” Umerov said.
The Minister of Defense of Ukraine held several bilateral meetings with representatives of Germany, Sweden, Greece, France, Bulgaria, Slovakia, and Portugal.
