“Rescuers received a message that two people met a bear on a tourist mountain trail. The couple tried to escape from the predator and ran in different directions. The bear allegedly chased a woman,” said the rescuers.
According to the mountain rescue service, the woman tried to escape from the predator, but fell from a steep slope. As a result of the injuries sustained, he died. His body was discovered by a service dog.
The 31-year-old woman and 29-year-old man were identified as Belarusians.
In the past, Slovakia has advocated changing European legislation to control the brown bear population. The country has announced its intentions to destroy all bears near its cities and villages.
