In 2021, billionaire Elon Musk’s company received a secret contract with the National Reconnaissance Office, the spy agency that operates spy satellites, worth $1.8 billion. This was reported by Reuters.
It is noted that if successful, this program will significantly expand the ability of the US government and military to quickly identify potential targets almost anywhere in the world. According to the American publication, this contract indicates that US intelligence trusts SpaceX, although its owner was in conflict with the Joe Biden administration.
The media indicates that it is now unknown when the new network of satellites will be launched. It was also not possible to find out which other companies are participating in the contract program.
Let us recall that in February, the American company from Houston, Intuitive Machines, launched its first device to the Moon from Cape Canaveral in Florida. The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket was used to launch the Odyssey spacecraft.
