The French leader explained that the main goal of Paris is the loss of the Russian Federation in the war against Ukraine.
French President Emmanuel Macron said that in his statements about sending troops to Ukraine he sought to avoid escalation. He said this in an interview with Ukrainian journalists
At the same time, he noted that support for Ukraine should continue, and he “is not naive about the Kremlin regime.”
“Our goal is that Russia should not win. But our goal is to restore peace in Europe. To achieve the result of this goal, we cannot follow the path of development, because we do not need another war,” said Macron.
However, the French president added, in Paris “they are ready to say that we have no limits, and we will respond depending on how Russia reacts.”
“And the Ukrainians at some point should have a strong position when they negotiate a sustainable peace. But now I do not take offensive initiatives, because this is not the spirit of collective unity,” said Macron said.
The previous day, French President Emmanuel Macron commented in his statement about the possible deployment of troops in Ukraine. He did not rule out such a move, because Russia should not win the war.
Macron also advised Russian President Vladimir Putin not to waste threats of nuclear weapons.
