The French leader is convinced that America’s strategic interest is to continue supporting Ukraine.
French President Emanuel Macron explained what consequences should be expected if the United States stops helping Ukraine. He said this in an interview with Ukrainian journalists.
The French leader expressed confidence that this should not happen, but emphasized: if Washington leaves Kyiv in a difficult situation, it will lose confidence in the world, its influence, and international authority.
“It must be remembered that the American administration cooperates closely with us, the Europeans have achieved a lot thanks to this cooperation. They are with us all the time. It is in the interest of America to stay for a long time, regardless of the political situation, on the side of Ukraine. Because of Ukraine The fate of international law is decided, the fate of liberal democracy is decided… So, I believe, I am convinced that the strategic interest of America is to continue to support Ukraine , to be close to us,” Macron said.
He emphasized that the American people should be thanked for what they have done. Macron also believes that Europe should in any case have a backup plan, because Ukraine is an existing issue for it.
“We, Europeans, alone must prepare for different situations. Because for us, Ukraine is an existential question. If you lose this war, we in Europe will not have any European security. Therefore, we must prepare for all possible situations. We need to convince all European countries to develop their own defense and security policy…”, the French leader believes.
The previous day, French President Emmanuel Macron commented in his statement about the possible deployment of troops in Ukraine. He did not rule out such a move, because Russia should not win the war.
Macron also advised Russian President Vladimir Putin not to waste threats of nuclear weapons.
