The situation on the aid vote in Ukraine no longer looks like a stalemate as it did a few weeks ago, the minister believes.
The United States Congress may consider bills on aid to Ukraine, as well as confiscation of Russian assets, in a package, and this may happen in the near future. The Minister of Justice of Ukraine Denis Maluska said this on Saturday, March 16, during a telethon.
According to him, Kyiv received optimistic signals from American lawmakers.
“Congressmen, senators and representatives of the executive branch in the United States confirmed that there is a possibility that all projects in Ukraine: military and financial assistance, as well as confiscation of assets, will be voted as a package. Moreover , such consideration and even Voting can begin next week, if a compromise is found on the technical details,” said the minister.
It was previously reported that the Republicans in Congress, instead of putting the Senate aid bill to Ukraine to a vote, decided to create an alternative bill in which part of the non-military aid is proposed to be allocated in the form of a loan However, a vote on this is not expected until April.
Meanwhile, the Democrats do not agree with this development of events and on March 12 began to collect signatures to introduce a $95 billion aid bill for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, which passed Speaker Mike Johnson. In the first two days, he collected 177 signatures out of 218 required. On the third day, not a single new signature appeared.
