Business Insider writes about this with reference to an analysis by German intelligence services. According to him, Russia is preparing for a large-scale conflict with the West, as indicated by the reorganization of the Russian army, the movement of troops and the deployment of missiles in the west of the country, as well as the increase in Russian arms production.
The latter could result in Russia doubling its military power over the next five years compared to today, especially in the field of conventional weapons.
The secret report notes that it cannot be ruled out that Russia will attack at least part of NATO territory “from 2026,” for example in the Baltic states or Finland. Business Insider notes that German services have not yet made such specific statements publicly.
Russia has been waging war in Ukraine for two years, but so far neither side has been able to win. A brutal war of attrition is currently taking place in eastern Ukraine, killing tens of thousands of soldiers. And although, according to expert estimates, Russia is already committing significant human and material resources from its military to the war, Western intelligence agencies are increasingly concerned about escalation, the report says.
According to Business Insider, the federal government is currently discussing an “explosive analysis” of the German intelligence services. The intensification of Russian weapons production could lead to Russia doubling its military power over the next five years compared to today, especially in conventional weapons.
