Members of the European Parliament voted for amendments to continue trade liberalization measures related to Ukraine.
Members of the European Parliament in the plenary session introduced amendments to the continuation of trade liberalization measures towards Ukraine to strengthen guarantees for EU farmers. This was stated in a message from the press service of the European Parliament, published on Wednesday, March 13.
MEPs, with 347 votes in favor, 117 against and 99 abstentions, supported amendments to the European Commission’s proposal to suspend import duties and quotas on Ukrainian agricultural exports in the EU for another year – until June 5, 2025.
The proposal has been returned to the relevant committee of the European Parliament, which last week already supported a similar decision, so that it can start negotiations on amending the proposal of the European Commission in the Council of the EU.
As previously written, the European Parliament approved a directive criminalizing violations and evasion of EU sanctions.
