Eurovision will take place in May in the Swedish city of Malmo. The semi-finals will be held on May 7 and 9, the grand final of the competition will take place on Saturday, May 11.
Eurovision organizers have announced changes to the rules of the competition. Public Broadcasting reports this.
The changes concern the voting for favorites and the presentation of the Big Five countries. Now France, Italy, Spain, Germany and Great Britain will compete not only in the finals, but also in the semi-finals. They will join last year’s winner, Sweden.
The first semi-final, on May 7, will feature representatives from Great Britain, Germany and Sweden. France, Italy and Spain will take the stage on May 9th.
Another change of Eurovision 2024 is the extension of the time for audience voting in the finals of the competition.
Its countdown will start before the first contestant enters the stage, and not after the last performance of the other, as it used to be. This will allow viewers to vote for their favorites without delay.
Fans from non-Eurovision countries will now have almost 24 hours to vote for their favorite songs.
It was previously reported that the organizers of the competition said how they would welcome hundreds of thousands of Eurofans.
