The head of the Bundestag Defense Committee rhetorically noted that the Pope did not criticize the Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Kirill.
Representatives from the German government coalition Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann from the Free Demorts and Katrin Goering-Eckardt from the Greens criticized Pope Francis’ statement that Ukraine should have “the courage of the white flag” and negotiate, DPA reports.
“Before the Ukrainian victims raise the white banner, the Pope must loudly and unequivocally call on the brutal Russian criminals to remove their pirate flag – a symbol of death and Satan,” said Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann in an interview with the Funke Mediengruppe newspaper.
The Chairman of the Bundestag Defense Committee also rhetorically noted that the Pope did not criticize the Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church, Kirill.
“And why, in the name of God, does he not condemn the verbal incitement to kill Kirill, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church and a former KGB agent, against the Ukrainian people?” he asked.
Strack-Zimmermann added that he, “as a Catholic, is ashamed that he refrains from doing this.”
At the same time, Katrin Goering-Eckardt said in an interview with RND that no one wants peace more than Ukraine, adding that it is the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin who will help achieve peace.
“It is Putin who can immediately end the war and suffering, and not Ukraine. The one who demands that Ukraine surrender only gives the aggressor what he illegally took away, and thus agrees to the destruction of Ukraine,” he concluded.
We remind you that Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba responded to Pope Francis after his statements that Ukraine should have the courage of the “white flag” and negotiate.
“Our flag is blue and yellow. We live, die and win under it. We will not raise other flags,” Kuleba stressed on Twitter (X).
