“In 2024 alone, we recorded 346 cases of the use of toxic chemicals – this is equivalent to six violations of the Russian Federation convention per day. The use of chemical weapons is considered by the enemy as a means of achieving tactical superiority and demoralization of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The purpose of the use is to poison the Armed Forces of Ukraine and push them out of fortified positions.” , said Karasevich.
The Ambassador noted that as of March 1, 2024, 1,060 cases of the use of chemical substances by the occupiers are being investigated – 72 cases of such use have been confirmed. Usually, the enemy carries out such attacks using UAVs, which remove K-51 type gas grenades from them.
“In February 2024, 946 cases of medical assistance to Ukrainian military personnel due to poisoning by an unknown substance that occurred in combat areas were registered in Ukrainian health institutions,” Karasevich said.
Ukrainian authorities are actively collecting evidence related to Russia’s violations of the convention and will provide the technical secretariat of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and participating States with information on the progress of the investigation in the prescribed manner, added the ambassador. .
