Ukraine does not see Russian representatives at the Global Peace Summit, President Vladimir Zelensky said.
Turkey is ready to host a peace summit to resolve the war in Ukraine, in which Russia is also involved. This is what Turkish President Recep Erdogan said in a press conference with President Vladimir Zelensky in Istanbul on Friday, March 8.
“From the beginning, we are making our contribution to the end of the war, which should be based on negotiations. We are ready to host a peace summit, but Russia is also involved in it,” said the Turkish leader.
Erdogan emphasized that Turkey supports the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of its strategic partner – Ukraine.
“Unfortunately, the war has far-reaching consequences at the regional level and on a global scale, and it mainly affects Ukraine. No diplomatic steps have been taken to use the negotiation process, and yet we are in March 2022 Istanbul gathered at the negotiating table to establish peace,” he noted.
Zelensky responded in the format suggested by Erdogan. According to him, Ukraine does not see Russian representatives at this summit.
“Turkey’s special role deserves the leadership of your state to be presented at the peace summit for the full implementation of the Peace Formula,” the head of state said.
According to him, Ukraine is striving for a just world. To do this, the first civilized countries will develop a plan, and then they will attract representatives of Russia who want a just world.
“We don’t see how you can invite people who block, destroy and kill everyone. We want to get a result. The result is a just world for Ukraine. Therefore, the first civilized countries will develop a plan, and then only they can attract Russian representatives who want a just peace.” , – said the President of Ukraine.
Let us remind you that the President of Ukraine is on a working visit to Turkey.
As you know, Turkey and China are creating their own negotiating platforms to resolve the war in Ukraine. However, there is a possibility that Russia will try to use this to advance its ideologies in the negotiations with Ukraine.
