This is stated in the protocol to the North Atlantic Treaty on the accession of the Kingdom of Sweden, published today, March 7, by the US State Department.
The document states that the protocol on Sweden’s accession comes into force today.
On March 7, 2024, the conditions for entry into force set out in Article II of the Protocol to the North Atlantic Treaty on the Accession of the Kingdom of Sweden were fulfilled, the document states.
Earlier today, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson on his page on the social network X announced that he had received news from the NATO Secretary General that all Alliance members had accepted the protocol on Sweden’s accession.
NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg has just informed me that all NATO member countries have accepted our accession protocol and have invited Sweden to join the North Atlantic Treaty. Sweden will soon become the 32nd member of NATO, he noted.
