Energoatom prepares nuclear power plant units for scheduled repairs. The repair campaign will start five days earlier.
Several power units of nuclear power plants are operating at reduced power due to an oversupply in the Ukrainian energy system for the second week in a row. The Ministry of Energy announced this on Thursday, March 7.
It is indicated that Ukrainian nuclear power plants generate 6950 MW, which is the largest volume among all generations. NAEC Energoatom prepares them for scheduled repairs. Although the campaign to organize the nuclear industry was planned to start on March 13, the current situation allows it to start earlier – on March 8.
“This will make it possible to quickly prepare nuclear power units for the operational phase 2024/25, optimize repair and maintenance work schedules, including fuel reloading,” the statement said.
The Ministry of Energy added that the maximum optimization of the repair schedule will provide Ukrainians with a stable supply of electricity both in the summer and in the next heating season.
