President Vladimir Zelensky, in an evening speech on Thursday, March 7, commented on the completion of the procedure for Sweden’s accession to NATO.
The head of state, speaking about the completion of procedures for Sweden’s entry into the North Atlantic Alliance, said that “another European state has become more protected from the evil of Russia.”
“Today, during the Russian aggression against everything that has been peaceful and united in Europe, everyone sees how important it is to maintain alliances and cooperation, strengthen their own security and take care of the security of their neighbors, Zelensky said.
The President recalled that Ukraine has always supported Sweden’s movement in NATO and thanked Sweden for supporting Kyiv – “there will be a day when Sweden will be able to congratulate Ukraine on joining the Alliance.”
We remind you that on March 7, Sweden officially completed the procedure for gaining full membership in NATO. The Swedish flag-raising ceremony at the Alliance headquarters in Brussels will take place on Monday, March 11.
