The head of the German Ministry of Defense, Pistorius, did not include the possibility that the IT technologies used were damaged.
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, who announced the provisional results of an internal investigation, said that Russia had accidentally recorded a meeting of Bundeswehr officers on the Taurus program. One of the participants did not follow the safety rules. NTV reported this.
The head of the German Ministry of Defense did not include the possibility that the IT technologies used were damaged when it came to the meeting of Bundeswehr officers, which was recorded by Russia.
He said the reason for the recording was instead an “individual application error.”
One participant did not follow the suggested secure dialing procedure. In particular, we are talking about a participant who connected from Singapore. Pistorius emphasized that, despite suggestions to the contrary, “no outsiders” were involved in the conference call.
“Based on the results of the tests, it can be concluded that ‘certified systems are safe when used correctly,'” Pistorius said.
Based on the investigation now underway, the Department of Defense suggests the recording was “an accidental hit in a large-scale eavesdropping operation conducted by Russia.”
Pistorius added that all devices will now undergo forensic analysis. It will also determine whether the topics discussed only at the conference are worth discussing in this way. The issue of violation of disciplinary proceedings is still open and depends on the further results of the investigation.
Let’s recall that earlier Russian propagandists outlined the contents of a conversation between the Inspector General of the German Air Force, Ingo Gerhartz, and three officers about the details of a possible supply to Ukraine and the potential use of Taurus missiles. This caused a scandal in German politics.
After this, the German Minister of Defense ordered a full investigation into the incident.
