The German Ministry of Defense wants to participate in the Czech initiative and finance a “significant part” of the total cost.
Germany will participate in the purchase of artillery ammunition as part of the initiative of Czech President Petr Pavel. The project announced this on Sunday, March 3 GAUcovering German aid to Ukraine.
“The German Ministry of Defense said on ARD television that it wants to participate in the financing and cover a ‘significant part’ of the total cost. Negotiations in this regard are at a very advanced stage,” the report said.
How much money Germany will provide and what type of ammunition – 122 or 155 mm – will be financed is still unknown.
It was noted that a day before the statement of the President of the Czech Republic, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that Germany this year will buy 120 thousand 122-mm artillery shells and give them to Ukraine – maybe for a three -digit million value.
We remind you that the representatives of the Czech Republic discovered 800 thousand artillery shells of 155 mm and 122 mm caliber in third countries, which could go to Ukraine. Subsequently, several countries agreed to provide funds for their purchase.
The Czech Republic recently announced that the first deliveries of shells under this initiative could arrive in just a few weeks.
