Warsaw hopes that by the end of March “there will be no more problems on the Ukrainian border.”
Poland is informally negotiating with the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, regarding the exemption of Polish farmers from some provisions of the European Green Deal. This was said by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Andrzej Schein, reports Onet.
So, the journalist asked the official if he could confirm that Poland is informally talking with Ursula von der Leyen about concessions in the application of some provisions of the Green Deal, due to the proximity of the agricultural market to Ukraine.
Scheina confirmed that the negotiations cover “everything possible, both the Green Deal and the arrival of products that lead to continuous disruption in the market of one or most countries.”
“If we manage to agree on Poland’s demands to the EU, because we have successfully agreed on EU funds, then this will be the common position of the EU. I also want to say, and here I am quoting Prime Minister Tusk, if this continues, we will introduce changes, we will introduce border blockades, barriers and customs duties unilaterally,” explained the deputy minister.
He added that during the Polish-Ukrainian consultations, which will be held on March 28, “the issue of the border problem will not be raised.”
We remind you that Polish farmers have been blocking the Ukrainian border for several weeks. They do not allow trucks to pass through the checkpoint, and also destroy Ukrainian agricultural products.
