The conflict between the leaders of the two countries is taking place at a difficult moment for Ukraine, Bloomberg notes.
French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz are at odds, which could hurt Ukraine. This was reported by Bloomberg news agency.
Macron at the Paris summit of European leaders called for increased aid to Ukraine, and the idea of the French leader about the possible deployment of Western troops in Ukraine contradicts the wishes of Scholz’s office.
The media say that Macron’s speech showed hostility towards Scholz. In particular, the French leader mentioned in his speech the allies who only offered Ukraine a “helmet and sleeping bag,” hinting at Germany.
Macron sees Scholz as a leader who lacks courage and ambition, who cannot think beyond the short term, the news agency wrote, citing the French official’s opinion.
The chancellor’s close aides also admitted that they could not agree. The German side sees Macron as a monarchist figure who knows how to come up with great ideas, but not implement them.

At the same time, a spokesman for the German government told the publication that the disagreement arose not between Macron and Scholz, but between the French president and a larger group that considered his comments incorrect.
“Despite this, and despite the fact that Scholz and Macron are different, they get along and trust each other,” the official assured.
The Elysee Palace did not respond to media requests.
As you know, on Monday, February 26, the Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, said that some NATO and EU member countries are discussing the possibility of sending their military to Ukraine after concluding bilateral agreements. He hastened to declare that Slovakia “will not take such a step,” but will respect the decisions of NATO countries that agree to send troops to Ukraine.
We remind you that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also rejected the idea of sending NATO and EU troops to Ukraine.
