The United States supports the sovereignty of Moldova and closely monitors what is happening around the so-called “Transnistrian Moldavian Republic.”
Russia continues to destabilize the situation in Europe. This was stated by US State Department Speaker Matthew Miller, who commented on the events in Transnistria, at a briefing on Wednesday, February 28.
The spokesman noted that the United States is monitoring the actions of Russia and Transnistria, as Moscow plays an increasingly aggressive and destabilizing role in Europe.
“We strongly support Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders,” he added.
We remind you that on February 28, the authorities of unrecognized Transnistria officially asked Russia for help. The corresponding declaration was adopted by the congress of “representatives of all levels”, which had not been held for 18 years. PMR representatives called the reason for the appeal “an economic blockade on the part of Moldova.” An appeal to international organizations with a request to facilitate dialogue between Pridnestrovie and Moldova was also accepted. Meanwhile, the Main Intelligence Directorate said Transnistria’s unrecognized request to Russia for “protection” from Moldova was not the result the Kremlin hoped for. “Today, due to the situation in the PMR, nothing happened. Russia did not get the desired result. In this situation, their attempts, both political and informational, were defeated,” said the intelligence representative.
