The spies collected information allegedly for “a purpose harmful to the security and interests of the state.”
In the UK, a group of people were exposed, according to law enforcement officials, who were collecting intelligence information in favor of Russia. We are talking about six people who come from Bulgaria. Sky News reported this on Tuesday, February 27.
It indicates that we are talking about four boys and two girls. According to the police, they collected information for the Russian Federation “with the aim of harming the security and interests of Great Britain” between August 2020 and February 2023.
According to the publication, one of the accused is 37-year-old Bulgarian citizen Tihomir Ivanov Ivanchev. He lives in Acton, west London. The man was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
“The suspect was identified and arrested following investigations following five previous arrests in this investigation and charges have been laid at the Crown Prosecution Service,” said Dominic Murphy, who heads the counter-terrorism unit.
The other defendants – three men and two women – are accused of conspiring to collect information that would be useful to the enemy between August 2020 and February 2023.
These are 46-year-old Orlin Rusev, 42-year-old Bizer Dzhambazov, 32-year-old Katrin Ivanova, 32-year-old Ivan Stoyanov and 29-year-old Vanya Gaberova.
Their trial is expected to last four months. It should start in October.
It was previously reported that EU countries are discussing whether to restrict the travel of Russian diplomats after the Czech Republic complained that potential Russian spies evade surveillance thanks to the Schengen zone.
We remind you that, according to media reports, Russia’s permanent representative to the EU, Kirill Logvinov, is probably a spy. He is suspected of secretly working against European interests and spying for Russian intelligence services.
