An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 occurred in the Turkish province of Canakkale in the west of the country. BNN reported this on Tuesday, February 27.
The earthquake, described as moderate, was recorded by the Department of Disaster and Emergency Management (AFAD).
According to published information, the shock had a magnitude of 4.6. The epicenter lay near the village of Beypinar at a depth of approximately seven kilometers.
“Tremors were felt in the Biga area,” seismologists said.
As the publication added, this is not the only earthquake that has occurred in the country. According to seismologists, a mild earthquake of magnitude 2.2 occurred in Turkey the previous day, recorded 28 km from the city of Elazig in the east of the country. It is at a very shallow depth of 8.9 km and has not been felt.
Turkish authorities have not reported any consequences.
