Now some North Korean factories producing weapons and ammunition are operating at full capacity. At the same time, the remaining weapons factories are operating at 30% capacity due to a lack of raw materials and electricity. This was stated by South Korean Defense Minister Shin Won-sik, Yonhap News reports.
It is noted that after the meeting between Kim Jong-in and Vladimir Putin in September 2023, the DPRK sent about 6,700 containers to the Russian Federation. Thus, the Russians could receive approximately 3 million 152-mm artillery shells and 500 thousand 122-mm artillery shells.
In exchange for military aid, North Korea likely receives food and other basic necessities from Russia, as well as raw materials and parts used in weapons production. It is also possible that Moscow has provided satellite technology to Pyongyang, as the country launched its first spy satellite into orbit in November and has promised to launch three more in 2024.
Let us recall that on February 22, the SBU provided evidence of Russia’s use of Hwasong-11 ballistic missiles from North Korea. According to the investigation, Russian troops fired more than 20 North Korean weapons into Ukraine. The enemy strikes killed at least 24 people and seriously injured more than 100 civilians.
