The President of Ukraine spoke about the aid package to the Speaker of the House of Representatives and “felt hope.”
Without help from the United States, it will be difficult for Ukraine to achieve any new victories on the front this year. President Vladimir Zelensky stated this in an interview with CNN.
According to the head of state, Ukraine will be able to train people, but the delay in the supply of ammunition and weapons for the brigades can affect the overall picture of the war.
For this reason, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky, is now making two plans for further action. If Ukraine receives aid from the United States, the military will work to push back the Russian army. But if this does not happen, Ukraine will have to focus exclusively on defense.
Zelensky said he spoke about the aid package with House Speaker Mike Johnson and was “optimistic” after that conversation.
“He said he will do everything to support Ukraine, and he is on our side, and he understands how heroic our people are, our soldiers and civilians,” the president said.
We remind you that on February 13, the US Senate supported a package that provides more than $60 billion for Ukraine – mainly for military aid. But the Senate’s decision to appropriate the money is not enough – the bill must be passed by the House of Representatives.
On February 15, Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson ended the work week early and announced a nearly two-week recess without considering a bill to help allies. The issue could now come before Congress in mid-March.
