A blockade by Polish farmers of the motorway near Frankfurt an der Oder is expected to delay traffic in Brandenburg until Monday afternoon. Numerous trucks, cars and buses were forced to take detours on Sunday as tractors were parked for miles on the Polish side.
In Poland, farmers formed a column of tractors on Autobahn 2 – the extension of the A12 on the Polish side – at the Šwiec border crossing.
Tractors, vans and trucks were also blocked on the German side of the city bridge in Frankfurt an der Oder on Sunday evening. In Germany, farmers are protesting primarily against planned cuts to subsidies for agricultural diesel fuel.
According to Polish media, some farmers are waiting in their cars – and mostly they are waiting for a meeting with Prime Minister Donald Tusk and a withdrawal of the EU Green Deal policy.
