Some 20 European leaders will meet in Paris to discuss ways to improve efficiency on the ground, as well as strengthen coordination between allies and Ukraine.
French President Emmanuel Macron will gather in Paris on Monday, February 26, with about 20 European leaders to brainstorm about aid to Ukraine, Reuters reports.
The conference in Paris will be attended by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, British Foreign Secretary David Cameron, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, as well as the heads of the Scandinavian and Baltic countries. The United States will be represented by Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Jim O’Brien, and Canada by Defense Secretary Bill Blair.
French officials said a security conference in Munich earlier this month was filled with “doom and gloom” and that Macron was keen to dispel those feelings.
“We are not doomed or gloomy. We want Russia to understand this. Russia will have to take us all to account together to end this war and restore the rights of Ukraine,” an adviser to President Macron told reporters at a briefing on February 25 .
According to him, this working meeting is not an occasion to announce new arms deliveries to Ukraine, but rather a brainstorming session on ways to improve efficiency on the ground, as well as to strengthen coordination between allies and Ukraine.
It was previously reported that Macron is planning an international meeting in support of Ukraine with the participation of several heads of state and government, but its details have not been reported.
