The American leader will meet with the Speaker of Congress on Tuesday to discuss the fate of the Ukraine aid bill.
US President Joe Biden will meet with Speaker of Congress Mike Johnson on Tuesday, February 27, to discuss a bill that would help Ukraine and other allies, The Hill reports.
The meeting will also be attended by Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer, Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell, and House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries.
They will also discuss preventing the shutdown in the United States. The White House said Biden would emphasize “the urgency of passing a bipartisan supplemental document on national security and keeping the government open.”
Congress returns to Washington this week ahead of a pair of looming funding deadlines – March 1 for some agencies and March 8 for others. That leaves lawmakers little time to sort out their differences and introduce bills to keep the government running.
We remind you that on February 15, Johnson ended the work week of the House of Representatives ahead of schedule and announced an almost two-week break, without considering the bill on aid to Ukraine.
Earlier it was reported that the Democrats hoped to “corner” the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, which would allow them to vote for a draft aid law for Ukraine.
