Russia has committed a serious violation of the international system by attacking a sovereign state.
The situation in the Middle East would not have worsened if Russia had not carried out a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Italian Prime Minister Georgia Maloney said this on Saturday, February 24, in an interview with Il Giornale.
“If Russia had not attacked Ukraine, Hamas probably would not have attacked Israel in October 2023, which led to the conflict in the Gaza Strip,” he said.
The Prime Minister emphasized that a serious violation of the international system committed by a permanent member of the UN Security Council led to a chain reaction in different regions of the world – from the Middle East to the Balkans and beyond in Africa.
Meloni noted the importance of restoring international law and order, noting that without it, “conflicts will continue to flare up.”
As you know, February 24 is the second anniversary of the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to occupy our entire state in a short period of time. But the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people prevented these plans.
With the help of Western countries, the Ukrainians were able to liberate a significant part of the territory occupied in the first months. Now the heavy positional battle continues at the front.
In two years, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed more than 400 thousand Russian aggressors. In just one day on February 23, almost 800 Russians were fired.
