The Ombudsman emphasized that this is not Russia’s first violation of important agreements, and nothing can be done about it.
Ukraine had agreements with Russia regarding wounded military personnel, who could not be evacuated from Avdiivka, but the Russians did not keep their word. Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets spoke about this on Saturday, February 24, in a telethon, writes RBC-Ukraine.
Lubinets said that, according to the agreement, the Russians must capture wounded Ukrainian soldiers, provide them with aid, and then return them as part of a prisoner exchange.
“We had the opportunity to talk with the Russian side. We previously agreed that the wounded Ukrainian military would be officially captured, given assistance, and then returned through an exchange procedure. Unfortunately, the Russian side once again showed that any agreements may not be fulfilled,” – he explained.
The Ombudsman emphasized that this is not Russia’s first violation of important agreements, and nothing can be done about it.
We remind you that Ukrainian prosecutors have launched an investigation into the execution of Russian war criminals in Avdiivka and Vesely.
It was previously reported that Russian interventionists committed another war crime: they shot two Ukrainian prisoners of war.
