Iran’s Permanent Mission to the UN said it had refrained from arms transactions during the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Iran has denied supplying its ballistic missiles to Russia, as previously reported by the media. This statement was made by Iran’s permanent mission to the UN, CNN reports.
Iranian diplomats said recent reports of Iranian ballistic missiles being sent to Russia are “baseless.”
“Although there are no current international restrictions or bans on the sale of ballistic missiles, Iran considers itself morally obligated to refrain from ongoing arms transactions for the duration of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine,” the statement said .
Iran’s mission to the UN added that it made this decision not to “contribute to the continuation of the war.”
Earlier, Reuters wrote that Iran transferred about 400 ballistic missiles to Russia with a range of up to 700 km. However, the White House said it was closely monitoring the matter but had yet to see any confirmation that the missiles had actually been transferred from Iran to Russia.
