Among his priority targets were the locations of Ukrainian air defense systems. Also, the defendant was interested in the coordinates of warehouses with weapons and ammunition of the Ukrainian defenders.
He sent the information received to several Russian Telegram channels coordinating the Russian special services to collect intelligence about the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
In addition, at the beginning of a full-scale war, an enemy informant wanted to join the militants of the private military company Wagner and fight against Ukraine.
However, the SBU officers acted proactively: they promptly caught the attacker and gradually documented his criminal actions.
The prompt response of the Security Service made it possible to thwart the aggressor’s plans to obtain intelligence information, and to detain the Russian informant himself in his own home.
As the investigation established, the defendant turned out to be an ideological supporter of racism. This year, on his own initiative, he began to leak information about the Defense Forces to hostile Internet resources.
To collect intelligence data, the attacker entered the territory where he secretly recorded military infrastructure facilities.
To conceal intelligence activities, the defendant constantly changed SIM cards from mobile operators.
During searches at the detainee’s place of residence, communication equipment was seized in the act.
Security Service investigators informed him of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 114-2 (unauthorized dissemination of information about the direction, movement of weapons, weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, movement, movement or deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The perpetrator is in custody without the right to bail. He faces up to 8 years in prison.
