The leader of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould el-Sheikh al-Ghazouani, begins his presidency of the African Union.
The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky spoke with the President of Mauritania Mohammed Ould al-Sheikh al-Ghazouani. The Ukrainian head of state wrote about it on social networks X on Monday, February 19th.
“I congratulate the President of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould el-Sheikh al-Ghazouani, on the beginning of his leadership of the African Union,” Zelensky wrote.
He wishes that the presidency of Mauritania will successfully contribute to the realization of the goals of the African Union and the sustainable and peaceful development of African countries.
According to the president, Ukraine is ready for mutually beneficial cooperation in the name of restoring respect for international law and the UN Charter through the implementation of the Peace Formula.
Earlier, Vladimir Zelensky said that Ukraine is interested in cooperation with the states of the African continent and is ready to hold a Ukraine-African Union meeting. For this purpose, he is ready to go to any state in Africa.
The African Union is an intergovernmental organization that unites 55 African countries. It was established on July 9, 2002 as a successor to the Organization of African Unity (OAU).
