To create a picture of supposed “support” for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, the occupiers sent specially trained detachments to the enslaved territories who would supervise falsifications and monitor the work of the so-called “election commissions.” The press service of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported this today, February 19.
It is noted that one of the tasks of these special squads is to report by March 10, 2024 on the readiness of enterprise workers in the occupied territories to “vote”, as well as provide a forecast of “support” for Putin.
The Kremlin also approved a new procedure for conducting “voting” in the occupied territories.
The latest Moscow methodology suggests that you can take part in illegal “elections” in enslaved territories with both a Russian and Ukrainian passport, ID card or other identification document, the GUR notes. “This decision indicates the failure of forced passportization in the occupied territories of Ukraine, and is also another tool of the Russian special services to identify “unreliable” Ukrainians for repression.
The GUR notes that, on instructions from Moscow, the occupation administrations and propagandists:
- actively spreading fake news about supposedly “85% support” for Putin at the TOT of Ukraine;
- promote the so-called “mobile voter” system, which, in particular, allows you to “vote” online and without registration in the occupied territories of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
