There is unused military equipment in Europe and it should be transferred to Ukraine, the head of the Danish government said.
Denmark will move all its artillery to Ukraine. Prime Minister Matte Frederiksen announced this on Saturday, February 17, in a speech at the 7th Ukrainian lunch in Munich, writes Ukrinform.
Frederiksen called on other European countries to do the same and transfer their air defense systems and ammunition to Ukraine, as it needs them more now.
“The leaders of European countries often talk about problems with the production of weapons, calling them the reason for not allowing an increase in the supply of aid to Ukraine. However, now they are opening new businesses in defense for the future,” he said.
At the same time, he noted that the Ukrainian defenders do not have time to wait for the bullets that will come “later.”
“Ukraine is asking us for ammunition and artillery now. We, Denmark, have decided to transfer all our artillery to Ukraine. We have weapons, ammunition, air defense systems, which we have not used. We need transfer them to Ukraine,” the official emphasized.
EU countries cannot fully implement this plan. According to Bloomberg, the EU will provide Ukraine with 600,000 rounds of ammunition in March.
And the previous day, the media reported that the three countries were blocking the decision on the joint purchase of shells outside the EU.
